Portrait Photographer - Ian Curcio
For the most part, the days run together. Small details go unnoticed, lost in time, and forgotten. In those small details, life happens. Love lives in each one of them. I began spending more time reflecting on fatherhood as one son was heading off to college, and the other was entering his first year of grade school. It was a year of transition.
These images explore the humdrum between nostalgia and daydreaming tomorrow away. In the hole of a well-worn sock or a walk through a familiar forest, I attempt to be more aware and present in moments that can often feel trivial and unimportant. Photographing in this way slows me down and helps to maintain my equanimity as the days bustle away.
Through the lens, I'm processing what raising two sons who are experiencing life during different generations means to me while still maintaining a sense of self.
These are select works from an ongoing project.
